New 2018 Guilds!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year–we’re launching new Guild guitars! From USA-made acoustics to groovy electric reissues, we’ve got something for everyone. Keep scrolling to see all of our new products for 2018, and click here to see the full Guild catalog. It’s shaping up to be a great year!

F-55

The jumbo bodied F-55 (formerly F-50R) produces an extraordinary amount of volume and warmth, matching a tight grained solid Sitka spruce top with solid Indian rosewood back and sides for extraordinary separation and clarity. Its strong, focused bass response, sweet, singing mids, and crisp highs give it a distinctive voice that sets this guitar apart from all others.

Elegant cosmetic appointments include the classic Guild “V-block” inlays, gold Gotoh hardware, and a beautiful Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Exceptional build quality and premium specifications make it a worthy heir to the historic Guild jumbo legacy.

Available in Natural or Sunburst finish, and also available with LR Baggs Electronics.

Jetstar

The Guild Jetstar embodies the ultimate retro vibe with a unique body shape that’s been off the grid since the 1960s. In terms of style, this reissue remains faithful to the first iteration of the S-50 Jetstar with a solid mahogany body and set neck. Further period-correct details include six inline tuning machines and Guild’s rare pearloid pyramid logo on a scroll-shaped headstock.

The Jetstar features a shallow C shape mahogany neck and pao ferro fingerboard with simple pearloid fret markers. Instead of its original shortened neck, the newly modified Jetstar has a 25 1/2” scale length for faster feel and improved response. Dual Guild LB-1 Little Bucker pickups bring a usable array of tones from sparkly clean single coil-esque spank to thick and warm humbucker sounds that fatten and sing when driven. The Jetstar is available in Sea Foam Green with a cream pickguard, or Vintage White or Black with a tortoiseshell pickguard. It includes Guild’s deluxe padded gig bag.

Starfire Bass II in Natural Flamed Maple

The Starfire Bass II Flamed Maple (FM) is a dual-pickup semi-hollow bass guitar that adds additional sonic options to Guild’s iconic Starfire Bass. The Starfire Bass II originally debuted in 1967, shortly after the single-pickup version, and quickly garnered a following that included Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane) and Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead). The addition of the BiSonic BS-1 neck pickup on the Starfire Bass II gives bassists a warmer, smooth sound for added tonal flexibility. As its name suggests, the Flamed Maple version replaced the original mahogany body with flamed maple. It includes dual Guild BS-1 pickups, individual volume, tone, and master volume knobs, and a pickup selector switch. A clear, high gloss finish highlights this bass guitar’s natural beauty.

D-240E Flamed Mahogany

The D-240E Flamed Mahogany (FM) features the same full-bodied and powerful tone of the D-240E, but with exotic flamed mahogany back and sides and a solid spruce top for a meaty tone and dynamic response. The dreadnought shape provides guitarists with a classic acoustic sound and balanced voicing, and Guild’s historic archback design offers improved bass response and projection. The D-240E also features Guild’s AP-1 preamp system for easy control while amplifying your signal for use in stage or studio.

Other features include an Indian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, pearloid rosette, tortoiseshell pickguard, and a satin polyurethane finish. Comes with a Deluxe Guild gig bag.

Starfire II ST in Black

Meet the Starfire II ST, a hollowbody electric guitar designed with a graceful single Florentine cutaway and extra thin mahogany body. Equipped with dual LB-1 Little Bucker pickups (replicas of Guild’s original smaller size humbuckers), the Starfire II ST sounds uniquely-Guild. Other premium features include a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, elegant ivory white body binding, and a beautiful high gloss finish. This model features a Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for increased sustain and stability. Available in Black and Natural.

Still no left handed electrics? I’ve been asking for 3 years now. Every year it’s the same PR answer. “We’re planning to make left handed electric guitars in the future, thanks for contacting us, I’ll pass on your feedback, blah blah blah”

How patient do you expect people to be. If you’re never going to make lefties please just say so.

But the longer you keep people waiting with false promises the more frustrated they get. It’s getting to the point where I’m starting to actually hate Guild as a company.

I would be great if I could get a new lefty guild electric before the robots take over.

Please demonstrate you at least have some respect for potential customers who WANT to give you money in exchange for a guitar. Please just provide a straight answer. Will Guild be making left handed electric guitars in the next 12 months. I’m way past caring about plans or intentions. Please just provide a clear yes or no answer.

Please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please.

I agree with Glyn. I also am a lefty, but due to an injury as a child, I am unable to play a right handed guitar. There are very few companies that will even consider making a left handed guitar. I had a Guild S-250 back in the 80’s nd loved it. But it was stolen. Have not been able to buy another guild since then.
I would love to buy another Guild electric, solid body, but I can not and will not wait forever. Please stop discriminating against lefties!!

Cheers James, yes it’s getting ridiculous. There are a few comments asking about lefty electrics just on this one blog post. Yet no one from Guild ever answers the question. Great customer service!!

Being a lefty, I too have been emailing Guild annually about when they would be adding more left handed models to the line up.
Cordoba took over the company 4 years ago, and after 4 years, only 3 left handed models?
Guild had always offered most, if not all, of their models left handed through special order (As shown in my 1980 Starfire IV’s price guide). Even Fender offered that on the Made in USA models while still under their ownership.
The message Glyn wrote made me write my own to customer service and here is what they got back to me saying-
“For 2018, we do not have any plans to release new left-handed models. We are currently focusing on bringing up production quantities for the models that we have previously released. We have received a growing demand for left-handed models, so it’s definitely something that’s on our radar that we’ll look into satisfying in the coming years!”
No left handed models for 2018, but they will be looking into it “in the coming years”? How many years are us lefties supposed to wait?!
Guild was always a company lefties could go to like Martin, Larrivee, Taylor and the few other companies who offer lefties at no additional charge or through special order.
Obviously that is no longer the case under Guild’s new ownership.
Quite sad for what was once a great company that actually CARED about the left handed community.

Gees after hearing this I better keep mine. Guild made special order left handed guitars when my parents bought me mine. So sad they don’t anymore!

I am lucky enough to have a 1980 S-70 Lefty. If Guild would show the Lefties some love I would stick with Guild when buying a new guitar!

Funny, the Jetstar is more of a Polara, isn’t it? I saw, briefly, that you all were reintroducing the actual one-pickup Jet Star but that info got quickly deleted. While this “Jetstar” looks interesting, I’d be far more excited if it was the single-pickup model instead. BTW, I have been a Guild user/supporter for many decades.

My first Guitar was a new 63 S-100 with the Retro/Gumby headstock and Hagstrom
Vibrato in Cherry Red with Blue Felt Case. The Neck was amazing…
I would certainly buy one of those. Today they are an arm and two legs.
    The Jetstar is close.

I recently played an original Guild Jetstar Bass (serial # 1008) with the two-a-side headstock and found it to be the most balanced bass I’ve ever held and it sounded great, too. Are there any plans to re-issue this bass?

It seems like Guild has no intentions of including left handed guitars in their 2018 line up . That’s why I will continue giving my business to Martin ,Taylor and Gibson . They make Guitars for right handed and left handed players .

      That is quite right Raymond.
After reading the posts above I wrote my own message to customer service and here is what they got back to me saying –

The COMING YEARS! That is just ridiculous.
Guild was once a company that CARED about the left handed community and showed it (By offering all models acoustic/electric left handed), but it is now clear that is no longer the case.

Hey fellow lefties. I know there are leftie guild acoustics out there on eBay and Reverb. I’ve always wanted a D55 but could never find a lefty so I bought a used right handed one (made in the New Hartford factory) and had a local luthier make a new nut and saddle, reslotted the bridge and removed the rightie pick guard and SHAZAM….a left handed D55 that plays as nice as any acoustic I’ve ever owned.
